Engineers from BSTU "Voenmeh" named after D. F. Ustinov proposed an unusual design for a gas turbine blade. They want to place a porous printed material inside the part, and its pores must remain sealed.
The porous layer performs not only a structural function. An easily ionizable element is provided as its filler, and the blade design itself includes anode and cathode parts.
The design includes a heat-resistant anode substrate, an emission layer, and an electron reception layer. In this case, the blade airfoil with the emission layer acts as the cathode, and the heat-resistant substrate acts as the anode.
An air flow channel passes inside the substrate. Distancing elements are installed between the inner layers, which hold them at a given distance.
