AMKODOR, in cooperation with MAZ, has mastered the production of portal axles for low-floor public transport. The first two samples have been manufactured. One has already passed tests, and the second was presented at the AMKODOR-LESMASH enterprise in Belarus.
The first sample completed its test cycle at MAZ. The second was presented during the head of state's visit to the enterprise. Installation of the first axle on a bus will begin in October. By November, the bus with the Belarusian axle will undergo operational tests.
A portal axle is a complex component of low-floor transport. Its production reduces dependence on imported components for public transport. The cooperation of the two enterprises allows for the localization of another segment of the component base.
AMKODOR acts as the manufacturer of portal axles in this cooperation, while the low-floor transport itself is a product of the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ). Key MAZ models include:
- MAZ-203: The basic low-floor model, produced since 2005. It was the first to use a portal drive axle.
- MAZ-303: The current third generation, introduced in 2019. Available in diesel, gas (CNG) versions, and as the MAZ-303E electric bus.
