Kazankompressormash has begun shipping the first Russian mixed refrigerant compressors with a capacity of 112 MW to Gazprom. The units are intended for the first line of Baltic LNG in Ust-Luga.
Two compressors are ready for transportation — the low-pressure 109GTs-3896/4-54 KND and the medium-pressure 109GTs-3896/4-54 KSD. This set will cover the first line, and units for the second line are planned to be manufactured by December. Previously, such machines were not produced in Russia.
The development was carried out by NIIturbokompressor named after Shnepp and Kazankompressormash (part of HMS Group). Production is localized at the assembly and testing complex in Zelenodolsk.
The project initially relied on technologies from German Linde, which left Russia in 2022. After that, the complex was reconfigured for domestic equipment: ODK will supply GTD-110M turbines, and Kazankompressormash will supply compressors.
According to Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller, the country has mastered the production of all key equipment for large-scale LNG plants.
