Sollers Group has launched the production of the full-size frame SUV Sollers S9 at the UAZ industrial complex in Ulyanovsk. The first vehicles have already been assembled using a full cycle with stamped parts of their own production. This was reported by the company's press service.
To produce the model, the enterprise was significantly modernized: a new press complex appeared, body welding and assembly lines were organized. The S9 is based on the ST9 pickup truck, developed by the group's engineers in cooperation with a technological partner and specialists from Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Customers will be offered two two-liter engines: a 200 hp gasoline engine and a 143 hp diesel engine. Both units work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The company claims high localization — the body, power units, electronics, elements of safety systems, exterior and interior will be produced in Russia.
The first batches are currently undergoing quality control and mileage tests, based on the results of which serial production technologies will be refined. Shipments to dealers are scheduled for December, with the official start of sales at the end of the year. Sollers calls the production of full-size frame SUVs a core competence of the company.
