A Superjet 100 of Red Wings airline experienced smoke in its nose section at Yekaterinburg airport during preparations for flight WZ-917 to Magnitogorsk. This was reported by the Ural Transport Prosecutor's Office.
Red Wings reported that ground preparation for the flight was interrupted after a burning smell appeared while the aircraft was being refueled with oxygen. There were no passengers on board at that moment, and the airline's technical specialists began to establish the cause of the incident. Investigators preliminarily link the smoke to a technical reason.
After the incident, the aircraft was taken out of service for assessment of its condition. The carrier replaced the aircraft and continued flight WZ-917 on another Superjet 100.
The Sverdlovsk Transport Prosecutor's Office is conducting an inspection of compliance with flight safety legislation. The Central Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia is also investigating the circumstances of the incident. The final cause of the smoke has not yet been established.
