Starting October 1, Rusal will change the internal pricing formula for primary aluminum and alloys. The company expects that the new mechanism will reduce the cost of metal for Russian consumers by $40–100 per ton.
The transition was announced by Roman Rybalov, head of TD Rusal, at a meeting with consumers. According to him, the new formula will be valid until at least July 2027.
Currently, the cost of aluminum in Russia is calculated based on London Metal Exchange quotes and a premium at the port of Rotterdam. In the new formula, Rusal wants to use several indicators.
The calculation will include the structure of the company's export sales for the first half of 2026, as well as London Metal Exchange quotes with European, Asian, and American regional premiums. Additionally, prices from the Shanghai Metal Exchange will be taken into account.
