In Arkhangelsk, preparations are underway for the production of new concrete for construction in the Far North. The developers state that the material with increased early strength will allow the rate of concrete pouring for structures to be increased by 3–4 times.
NPO "SP-Beton" plans to launch the production of two experimental types of concrete in December 2026. The investment volume will be 28 million rubles, and the production site area will be 210 sq. m.
The first composition will be created using saponite — a clay mineral obtained from the circulating water of one of the Arctic enrichment plants. The prospects of using such raw materials in building materials have been confirmed by academic research, including that of NArFU.
According to the developers, the concrete should combine high early strength with frost resistance. The developers expect to obtain a frost-resistant, waterproof, and crack-resistant material for northern conditions.
This is a new type of concrete with increased early strength, thanks to which the rate of concrete pouring for building structures can be increased by 3–4 times.
Then the company plans to start producing the second experimental composition — with a fifth-generation polycarboxylate superplasticizer.
The new products are intended for use in the construction of buildings and structures in Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Novodvinsk, and other cities in the region. For now, these are experimental materials: after launch, they will be tested in real building structures before further implementation.
