Yandex Maps has introduced offline navigation for public transport. Now, without internet, you can plan bus, tram, and other urban transport routes, view stops, transfers, schedules, and estimated travel times.
To use this feature, you need to download the map of the desired region in advance. Along with it, the application will save transport schedule data, which will then be updated approximately once a week when connected to the internet.
After the update, Yandex Maps now offers all major types of offline navigation: car, pedestrian, bicycle routes, and now public transport. However, the offline mode uses pre-loaded data, so it cannot show the real-time location of a bus or tram without an internet connection.
Public transport remains the second most popular type of navigation in Yandex Maps and Navigator: over 26 million people use it monthly. At the same time, demand for offline maps is growing – in the first half of 2026, users initiated their download 24% more often than a year earlier.
The total audience of the web version and mobile application of Yandex Maps is about 95 million users per month.
