The Russian heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 "Tosochka" has found a new application. Crews have learned to use the complex for more precise strikes against individual strongholds, said Igor Beregatnov, commander of fire groups.
According to him, the TOS-2 is used against well-protected positions, including deep field fortifications, concrete strongholds, and shelters in buildings.
This machine is an area weapon. But we have learned to shoot more accurately, more precisely.
At the same time, the "Tosochka" maintains high mobility. The wheeled chassis allows it to reach speeds of about 80–90 km/h on the march.
TOS-2 crews began using deeply modernized 220-mm TBS-3M thermobaric rockets. The range of the ammunition is up to 15 km, but there were cases when the range reached 20 km.
