A group of Russian engineers has unveiled a budget interceptor drone called "Klyost", priced at around 50 thousand rubles. The device is designed to neutralize drones at short distances and, despite being manually controlled, is equipped with an automatic target acquisition function.
The declared cost of "Klyost" at 50 thousand rubles and its characteristics became known from the published materials of the developers. For a small interceptor drone, the price appears to be one of the key parameters of the project: it is a relatively inexpensive tool designed for use against the widespread threat of small UAVs.
The viewing angle exceeds 75 degrees, allowing the operator to observe a wide sector when searching for aerial targets. At the same time, control remains manual, although the automatic target acquisition function partially frees the operator from the need to constantly keep the object in the tracking zone.
Only basic information about the project has been published so far: there is no data on speed, flight duration, mass, type of propulsion system, and method of target engagement. Therefore, it is premature to assess the real capabilities of "Klyost" and its effectiveness against specific types of UAVs based on the available information.
Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" reported on another interceptor drone, "Yolka", which, according to experts, turned out to be insufficiently powerful for using a standard warhead.
