AvtoVAZ has prepared engines for the Lada Iskra and the new Lada Azimut crossover to meet "Euro-6" requirements. For Iskra, this means an increase in the environmental class from the current "Euro-5", while Azimut was initially developed with stricter environmental standards in mind.
The company has not yet disclosed how the power units were modified to comply with the new standard. Currently, Iskra is produced with gasoline engines with 90 and 106 hp.
Two naturally aspirated engines have been prepared for Azimut. The basic 1.6-liter engine develops 122 hp and works with a six-speed manual transmission.
The more powerful 1.8-liter unit produces 135 hp and is paired with a variator. Later, the crossover should receive a 150 hp turbo engine in conjunction with a classic automatic transmission.
