The Kaliningrad Border Institute of the FSB of Russia proposed a method for combating copters, in which standard small arms are used to form a barrier space of thin high-strength threads in the air.
The essence of the development is that a special munition must not only hit the target, but also deliver a thread to it. Several shots form a net in a given area, into which a rotary-wing drone can fall. According to the authors' idea, winding the thread onto rotating propellers can disrupt the operation of the propulsion system, lead to loss of control, and the fall of the apparatus.
To implement the idea, the authors provided a special bullet design with an internal thread reserve and a mechanism for its ejection after a shot. The thread should unfold in the air flow and occupy the space around the trajectory of the munition.
The design also includes an element that helps pull the thread out of the body and form a barrier in the air.
In the patent, the developers consider using the solution specifically with standard firearms, that is, without creating a separate interception complex.
