Specialists from the laboratory of robotization, new equipment and technologies at the Petrozavodskmash plant (part of Rosatom's Machine-Building Division) have developed an automated trolley for transporting materials to welders. This was reported by the state corporation's press service.
Engineers came up with a simple design for the delivery robot, prepared the software, and assembled a prototype. The robot moves along a given route, picks up cargo, transports it to the welder's workstation, unloads it, and returns to the starting point.
Video cameras and a lidar help it navigate in space. The wheeled delivery robot distinguishes markings on the workshop floor and bypasses obstacles.
Nikolay Frolov, director of Petrozavodskmash, stated that the enterprise strives to automate heavy manual and routine operations. This increases labor efficiency.
Our unmanned logistics trolleys will move various materials around workshops and between production buildings, including in winter.
At the first stage, the automated trolley will serve 6 welding complexes. Thanks to the robot, preparatory work will be reduced by 40 minutes per shift. In total, this will save almost 1.5 thousand man-hours per year.
