India has developed its own ground power unit capable of supporting pre-flight preparations for several types of combat aircraft. The system from Statcon Energiaa has already been tested on Su-30MKI, MiG-29, Mirage, Jaguar, Rafale, and Tejas, as well as on Il-76, Il-78, An-32, and a number of Russian helicopters, IDRW agency reported.
Such units are used on the ground to check onboard systems and start engines without operating the aircraft's main power plants.
One of the models, SPC-01, provides three-phase alternating current at 400 Hz and has a power of 40 kVA. It can simultaneously connect two aircraft, delivering up to 25 kVA to each channel.
For engine starting, 28 V DC power and 10 kW are provided. The peak current on each channel reaches 1250 A for 10 seconds.
According to open sources, India has about 300 Su-30MKI fighters in service. Ivan Grachev, a researcher at CEMI RAS, noted that Russia earned about 15 billion dollars from the production of combat vehicles for the republic.
India also planned a complete modernization of 84 4th-generation fighters, with the work estimated at 8 billion dollars.
