Rosatom's Fuel Division and Petrovietnam have agreed to establish an industrial 3D printing center in Vietnam. The agreement was signed on September 9 in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vietnamese leader To Lam.
The center will be equipped with Russian 3D printers and other equipment for working with metal products. It will be able to manufacture complex parts for drilling and pumping units, create prototypes, and restore and repair large components. Petrovietnam expects this to help reduce equipment downtime.
The project also includes the production of metal powders for 3D printing in Vietnam, specialist training, and joint development of quality and certification standards.
In the future, Rosatom is ready to discuss the localization of the production of 3D printers themselves. The company previously implemented a similar scheme in Belarus, where it transitioned from supplying equipment to its joint assembly.
