Unique device for vein detection created by Russian teenagers

The Venovisor for detecting veins and arteries, created by a team of Russian teenagers, is already being used on the front lines for emergency antibiotic injections. The device recognizes veins in both humans and animals. This was stated by Egor Gamayunov, a participant in the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg and a member of the scientific club "Dvizhenie Pervykh".

The operating principle is based on multispectral absorption by hemoglobin of red light rays emitted by the device, while the fat surrounding the veins repels light. Blood vessels contrast against the fat.

In the civilian sector, it is planned for use by nurses and emergency doctors: they are hindered by patients' excess weight, high blood pressure, or drug addiction.

On the front lines, the device is used when a soldier needs an emergency antibiotic injection and there is no time to find a vein: the fighter takes out the device, quickly identifies the vessel, and gives the injection. According to Gamayunov, this saves dozens of lives. The development is an example of how civilian technology finds application in the military sphere.
