"Admiral Kuznetsov" Was Supposed to Receive Bearings from a Ghost Factory Without Machine Tools

The investigation believes that the Samara SPZ-4 plant simulated activity during inspections by supervisory bodies

New details have emerged in the case of the supply of counterfeit bearings for the arresting gear of the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" of Project 1143.5. The investigation found that the Samara SPZ-4 plant was actually unable to produce these parts independently.

According to the Investigative Committee, the bearings were purchased in China and then registered as their own production.

In one of the episodes, the investigation estimates the damage to "Proletarsky Zavod" and the Russian budget at 306 million rubles. The total damage to the military-industrial complex may already exceed 1 billion rubles.

According to the Investigative Committee, during inspections, SPZ-4 employees created the appearance of an operating production – they turned on old equipment in the workshops and involved workers to demonstrate the enterprise's work to inspectors. The money received from customers was cashed out and used for personal purposes.

On September 10, the Samara District Court extended the detention of SPZ-4 General Director Denis Kotov, Development Director Vitaly Zlobin, and Commercial Director Yuri Zhurba. All three remain in the pre-trial detention center until November 11.
