Taxis for large families may become cheaper

Eligibility for support will be automatically verified when booking a trip

Large families in Russia may find it easier to receive benefits when ordering a taxi. A special system will be able to automatically confirm the passenger's status, after which the service or carrier can provide them with a discount, special fare, bonuses, or other benefits.

The experiment is being launched by the Situational Information Center of the Russian Ministry of Transport. Its task is to link state data on citizens' status with digital taxi ordering services and relieve passengers of the need to separately confirm their eligibility for benefits.

The Ministry of Transport expects that this approach will help make trips more affordable for large families. First Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantin Pashkov stated that the goal of the experiment is to make children in taxis not a burden for the carrier, but welcome passengers.

The basis of the experiment will be the automated information system for managing preferential and subsidized transportation – AIS ULSP. When ordering a car, it will automatically check the passenger's status against state data.

However, carriers will not be obliged to participate in the experiment. Each company will independently decide whether to join the system and what kind of support to provide to large families.

This could include discounts, special fares, bonuses, loyalty programs, priority service, or other advantages. The Ministry of Transport notes that in the future, this mechanism is planned to be extended to the country's regions.
