The volume of deliveries of "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" (KVN) fiber-optic FPV drones has reached millions of units in less than two years since their initial deployment. This scale was announced by Alexey Chadaev, CEO of the Ushkuynik Scientific and Production Center, who linked the further development of the project to a continuous increase in range and an expansion of the range of targets available for engagement.
For the relatively young class of fiber-optic FPV drones, the million-unit scale signifies a transition from individual batches to mass production. "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" was first tested in August 2024, and now, according to the developer's head, the volume of manufactured and delivered equipment is in the millions.
At the same time, the growth in production is accompanied by changes in the requirements for the device itself. As countermeasures developed, targets began to be moved further from the front line, so the developer had to consistently increase the operational range of the KVN.
The serial version is currently designed for a distance of up to 42 km, although increasing the length of the fiber-optic line increases the risk of it breaking and reduces the percentage of successful flights at extreme distances.
