The commander of the unit with the call sign Zolotoy spoke about the new tactics of using "Bumerang-10" drones to intercept heavy "Baba Yaga" hexacopters. Operators pursue an aerial target and attack it from above, using the high speed and maneuverability of their aircraft.
According to the serviceman, pursuit gives the operator several advantages. A drone that catches up with the target can remain unnoticed while the hexacopter continues to move in a straight line. After closing in, the "Bumerang-10" approaches from above and strikes with a lead.
"Baba Yaga" usually operates at an altitude of about 200 meters, but is capable of descending to 20 meters. The "Bumerang-10", in turn, develops a speed of more than 100 km/h and is highly maneuverable.
The commander of the UAV countermeasures battery, Roman Elizarov, reported that the unit uses several types of interceptors – aircraft-type and copter-type FPV drones. The aircraft, warhead, and control method are selected for a specific task.
Moreover, this is not just about hitting the target with ammunition. The "Bumerang-10" can also be used for direct ramming of another drone.
Earlier it was reported that NRTK "Kuryer" destroyed a heavy "Baba Yaga" hexacopter for the first time. The operator remotely used a robotic complex equipped with a machine gun module with a PKT.
