Meteor Lift (formerly Otis) has launched the production of frequency converters in St. Petersburg – a component that until recently was not manufactured in Russia. This was reported by the company's press service.
The new production line at the St. Petersburg plant is designed for 20 thousand units per year. The product line includes four types of converters for elevators with a lifting capacity of 400, 450, 630, and 1000 kilograms, with a speed range of 1 to 1.75 meters per second. The device is responsible for the smooth movement of the cabin and precise stopping at floors.
Development began following the results of a competition by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2022, and preliminary design was completed in June 2024. The launch of production addresses the elevator industry's need for a critically important component that was not previously manufactured in Russia.
