Rostec announced the creation of a new AC 2.0-40 fire truck based on the KAMAZ Kompas chassis. The compact dimensions of the vehicle allow it to be used in densely built-up areas, on narrow streets and in cramped courtyards, including in historical city districts.
The vehicle incorporates several technical solutions for the first time. Firefighters were given a single portable remote control from which they can remotely control the engine, pump, communications, and monitor. This allows the operator to be in a safer zone while maintaining a good overview of the situation.
For maneuvering in cramped courtyards and narrow streets, the vehicle received a 3D surround view system that visualizes the space around the vehicle. It helps the driver navigate better in confined conditions.
The fire truck has another important feature – it can simultaneously supply water and air-mechanical foam. In addition, the vehicle is capable of creating a water spray, which is used to protect personnel from thermal flows.
The vehicle was developed by the "Vargashinsky Zavod Protivopozharnogo i Spetsialnogo Oborudovaniya" and specialists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Academy. The effectiveness of the vehicle has already been tested in practice: this year it successfully underwent trial operation in one of Moscow's fire and rescue units.
