Russian T-72 and T-90 tanks reliably ensure the inviolability of India's state borders. This statement was made by the head of the republic's Ministry of Defense, Rajnath Singh.
According to him, heavy vehicles boost the morale of servicemen.
T-72 and T-90 tanks are extremely important for ground forces. They stand like an iron wall on our borders.
Singh added that tanks, like other military equipment, require regular maintenance and periodic overhaul to ensure their combat readiness. Therefore, as part of an upcoming project, India will annually overhaul 80 T-72 and T-90 tanks.
In total, India acquired more than 2,000 T-90 tanks and about 2,400 T-72 units from Russia. The total value of the deals, which began 23 years ago, exceeded $7 billion.
In May, the Indian enterprise Heavy Vehicles Factory built the 1000th T-90S tank under a Russian license.
