T-80BVM uses 1250 hp against drones: the tank closed the issue

The gas turbine engine gives the vehicle high dynamics, and the "mangala" protects against the first UAV strikes

The gas turbine T-80BVM uses the engine's high power not only for maneuvering. On the battlefield, the vehicle's dynamics become an additional factor of protection against drones, Rostec's press service reported.

The state corporation noted that the modernized tank is equipped with a 1250 hp gas turbine engine. In combination with a tracked chassis, this provides high power-to-weight ratio and speeds up to 70–80 km/h.

The combination of a dynamic gas turbine engine and modern anti-UAV protection allows the vehicle to operate as effectively as possible on the line of combat contact. The mangala saves from the first drone strikes, and speed ensures a quick exit from the affected area, preserving the vehicle and the lives of the crew.

The high power of the T-80BVM is especially important for rapid acceleration and maneuvering on rough terrain. The gas turbine unit retains the main advantage of the T-80 family — high dynamics.

Tanker with 20 years of experience, Major Andrey Bestemyanov explained that the T-80BVM did not go out of style, despite the era of attack drones. He is convinced that combat vehicles are still capable of engaging targets with direct fire.
