Rostselmash is reorienting itself towards purchasing metalworking machines from domestic manufacturers and suppliers from friendly countries. According to co-owner Konstantin Babkin, the reason was the negative practice of cooperation with Western companies.
This refers to a lawsuit with the German company Liebherr Verzahntechnik GmbH. Rostselmash filed a claim with the arbitration court after UniCredit Bank GmbH failed to disclose a bank guarantee issued to secure the supplier's obligations. As a result, the Russian plant was able to recover more than €300 thousand.
According to Babkin, this negative experience applies to many Western companies, so they do not plan to continue cooperation with them. He noted that there are no problems with purchasing machines: equipment is bought both in Russia and in China and other friendly countries.
The co-owner of the plant also mentioned that the negative experience also affected a Canadian plant, which Rostselmash bought out for a third of its value after the introduction of sanctions, as well as the company's frozen assets of 20 million dollars, intended for purchasing components in Europe.
