Work is indeed underway in Russia on a new hypersonic ballistic missile that will surpass the Oreshnik in power. But statements about the complete invulnerability of the complex, which has already been dubbed "Oreshnik-2", must be treated with caution, explained military expert Panteley Samarkin.
According to him, in the military sphere, it is almost technically impossible to guarantee 100% interception impossibility.
It is more correct to talk about how capable existing missile defense systems are of detecting, tracking, and hitting such a target, taking into account its speed, trajectory, and separating warheads.
Retired Colonel Viktor Baranets noted that the "Oreshnik-2" will have improved warhead power parameters.
It is likely that there will be not six, but eight unique kinetic warheads capable of penetrating to a depth of up to 30 meters. Baranets did not rule out that the missile system would be equipped with completely new fuel and fundamentally new components of the control system would be introduced.
