New Belarusian car 61-965 with Russian bogies prepared by MVRZ and NVC "Vagony"

In Minsk, at the car repair plant (MVRZ), preparations are underway for the production of a new model of locomotive-hauled passenger car 61-965. The design documentation for the open-plan car was developed jointly with the Russian NVC "Vagony" (part of "RM Rail") in 2025, according to Rollingstock.

For the new car, proprietary two-axle bolster bogies of two models were created – 68-929 and 68-930. Their prototypes are already ready and undergoing tests. The weight of the bogies is 7.45 tons and 7 tons, respectively.

The car is designed for 54 berths and 2 places for conductors. The body length along the coupling axes is 25.5 m, and the weight is 14 tons. Body elements, except for the frame, will be made of stainless steel, and the cladding will be smooth, without corrugations. The design speed is 160 km/h.

The enterprise has already announced tenders for the supply of windows, toilet complexes, and air conditioning systems. NVC "Vagony" noted that the development opens up opportunities for mastering the production of its own passenger rolling stock in Belarus.

Previously, the plant already produced passenger cars – in 2019, model 61-911M for a customer from Kazakhstan, but then the body and bogies were supplied from Uzbekistan. The current project involves a significantly higher level of localization.
