The Azimut crossover will be the first production car from AvtoVAZ to feature seats with fully electric adjustments, the company's press service announced. The front seats will offer six adjustment directions and pneumatic lumbar support.
The supplier is the Tolyatti-based plant "AFT-Sidenya", which launched a new full-cycle line for the project: from cutting and sewing upholstery to manufacturing metal frames and final assembly. Frame production is fully automated, and material cutting is performed with millimeter precision. Machine vision monitors the sewing, controlling the correctness of the seams. A special green thread is used in the side airbag area: the seam parameters are calculated so that the airbag deploys through the upholstery in a timely manner.
For Lada, this is a new option that complements the technological equipment of the Azimut: the model will also receive a panoramic roof and heated front side windows. Commercial production of the crossover will begin in September.
