Servicemen of the "Center" group of forces are actively using FPV-interceptors of the copter type "Zhmil" to destroy heavy unmanned aerial vehicles and enemy reconnaissance drones. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The department noted that "Zhmil" is capable of hitting Hornet and "Blyskavka" attack UAVs. It takes only a few minutes to prepare the FPV-drone for takeoff.
Upon detecting a target, the operator launches "Zhmil" into the air. The enemy object is destroyed by a precise strike from the serviceman. The FPV-drone "Zhmil" crews have accounted for dozens of eliminated drones of various types, including "Gor" UAVs for aerial reconnaissance, the Russian Ministry of Defence added.
"Zhmil" is a development of OOO "Molot-Aero" (part of GK "Molot") from Kirov. Information about this drone first appeared in July 2023. Since March 2024, "Zhmil-17" has been used by Russian servicemen.
