Scammers target Kanye West: Fake concert tickets sold online

Fake pages copy the design of well-known services and disappear within hours

Scammers have started creating websites with fake tickets for Kanye West's concerts. The pages are deliberately made to resemble popular ticketing platforms: they copy the design, logos, seating charts, and even the payment form. Roskachestvo warned about this.

The scheme is designed for people who search for tickets through a search engine. A person types "Kanye West tickets," sees an advertisement in the first results, and goes to a fake website. Everything then looks quite familiar: you can choose a seat, place an order, and pay by card or via SBP.

After payment, scammers send an email with a "booking confirmation" or a PDF file with a "ticket." But the person does not receive a real ticket. Such websites usually do not last long – sometimes only one day, and more often disappear by evening. The money, meanwhile, remains with the scammers.

Roskachestvo added that this scheme is not new, but amidst the hype surrounding Kanye West's concerts, it could pose an even more serious threat. Due to high demand, people rush to buy tickets and do not always check the website address. Additionally, scammers promote their pages through search advertising to get them to the top of the search results.

Sergey Kuzmenko, head of the Digital Expertise Center at Roskachestvo, advised against going to ticketing websites via suspicious links, and instead to manually enter the official operator's address in the browser. According to him, a real platform's domain should match the name of the organizing company. If even one letter in the address is different, it could be a fraudulent website.

Kanye West's concerts in Russia are scheduled for October 10 and 11. The cheapest tickets, costing from 9,000 to 15,000 rubles, sold out in less than an hour. Resellers are already offering them at prices ranging from 25,000 to 150,000 rubles.
