Server Crisis in Russia? Memory Prices Soar 20-Fold Due to Neural Networks

All production capacity of Samsung, Hynix, and Micron for 2027 is already sold out

The Russian server market faced a sharp price increase in the first half of 2026, according to "Vedomosti". The main reason is a global shortage of components, caused by manufacturers reorienting memory production to meet the needs of artificial intelligence.

According to Yadro, the average price of a typical server increased by 25% — up to 500 thousand rubles excluding VAT. According to Alexander Selyaninov, solution architect at "Infosystems Jet", the cost of Russian servers increased by 35%. The current price of a Yadro server, according to the publication's calculations, is about 2 million rubles.

Almost 80% of the server's cost now comes from RAM and storage. DDR5 memory prices are breaking records: 64 GB modules have increased in price by approximately 20 times — up to 253–295 thousand rubles compared to 12–16 thousand a year ago. Storage devices have also soared: SATA SSDs for 480 GB — by 7.3 times, SAS SSDs for 3.84 TB — by 3.1 times. Processors have increased in price by up to 40%, graphics accelerators — from 20% to 80% depending on the model.

Roman Bobryshev, head of the competence center at IT holding T1, explained: manufacturers are massively reorienting production capacities to high-margin HBM memory for AI accelerators, which has caused a shortage of standard DDR4 and DDR5 modules. Russian manufacturers have proven particularly vulnerable due to their dependence on imported processors, memory, and controllers, noted Mikhail Kostsov, head of "K2Tech" practice. Delivery times have more than doubled — from 10 to 24 weeks.

Market participants are unanimous: no significant price reduction is expected until the end of the year. Experts predict a further increase in configuration costs by 15–25%. All production capacity of Samsung, Hynix, and Micron for 2027 is already sold out. Vendors recommend budgeting with a reserve of about 40% of current prices when planning purchases.
