VTB is launching a new account takeover protection. If someone tries to log into a banking profile from another device during an active session, the client will immediately receive a notification.
From there, all active sessions can be terminated with one click. After that, re-authorization will be required, and a potential attacker will lose access to the account even before they can use the accounts.
The feature is already available in VTB's online banking and applications on iOS and Android. In the security section, you can also view login history, a list of connected devices, and manually close all active sessions.
According to the Bank of Russia, in the second quarter, banks recorded 458.7 thousand unauthorized transactions – 7.5% less than in the previous quarter. VTB attributes the decrease, in part, to the development of such protective mechanisms.
