The developer of drone countermeasures, NPO "Polet", stated insufficient attention to the topic of FPV interceptors with net guns. According to the company, such solutions are underestimated, although they have important advantages – primarily economic ones.
NPO emphasized that the cost of a single use of a net gun is significantly lower than the cost of the interceptor drone itself, not to mention expensive air defense missile systems. When two net guns are installed on one FPV, another important advantage appears – a second chance if the first attempt was unsuccessful.
It is a great pity that the topic of FPV interceptors with net guns has not yet received proper development in our country. Modern warfare is increasingly becoming a war of economics. It is not enough to simply destroy or stop a target – it is important to do it cheaper than it costs the enemy. [...] If the cost of interception is significantly lower than the cost of the threat, the situation changes: each subsequent attempt becomes more and more expensive for the enemy.
As the company notes, the enemy actively uses similar solutions – there is much evidence of the use of net guns on FPV drones. At the same time, in Russia, the topic has not yet received proper development, although there are developments and serial production.
Earlier it was reported that NPO "Polet"'s arsenal included a handheld net gun "Pauk Duplet" with a range of up to 25 meters, a net area of 5.7 sq. m, and the ability to fire twice without reloading. According to the developers, it is cheap and repeatedly usable FPV interceptors with net guns that deserve much more attention.
