Rosatom plant to receive AI systems to protect workers from injuries and overwork

PetrSU students created two prototypes to control production processes

Students of the Summer School of Artificial Intelligence at Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) created two prototypes of AI systems for the Petrozavodskmash plant, which are designed to make production safer and more comfortable. One system monitors the floor in the workshops, the other monitors the emotions of the workers.

The first prototype uses computer vision: it scans the floor surface and detects puddles from liquid spills in real time. If a spill occurs, the system immediately reports it – so that the accident can be eliminated before someone slips or the machine stops.

The second prototype assesses the emotional state of employees by facial expressions. The system analyzes stress and fatigue levels to redistribute workload in time and prevent burnout.

The developments were carried out at the request of the Petrozavodskmash plant (part of Rosatom's machine-building division) as part of the annual summer school. Two students from the project team have already received jobs at the enterprise and will continue to implement their prototypes into production.
