The disruption of the usual route to banks quickly led clients to intermediaries. After August 3, when some Russian banks switched to certificates from the Ministry of Digital Development, activity on financial marketplaces significantly increased: the websites of some credit organizations stopped opening normally in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and other foreign browsers.
On "Sravni", from August 3 to 6, interest in the credit section increased by 32.5% over the week, and the number of applications tripled. On "Vyberu.ru", requests for credit products increased by 16%, and applications by 8%.
The problem arose after the expiration of GlobalSign certificates. Users were offered to switch to a compatible browser or install Russian certificates manually, but some of the audience chose an easier path – aggregators, where they can compare terms and submit an application to several banks at once. According to a representative of Absolut Bank, about 60% of users who encountered restrictions might have done so.
However, this trend began even before the certificate issue. In the first half of the year, the number of credit applications through "Banki.ru" increased by 54%, and the approval rate – from 17% to 25%. Market participants also attribute this growth to a decrease in lending costs, an increase in demand for refinancing, and clients' desire to increase their chances of approval in several banks at once.
