"Pyaterochka" has launched a service in its mobile application that automatically tracks the expiration dates of purchased products and sends notifications when the item needs to be consumed. The system works through a loyalty card and receives product data upon purchase.
When a customer pays for a purchase, the application receives data from the digital code of the "Chestny Znak" labeling system. This includes the product name, category, production date, and expiration date.
The algorithm then compares the expiration date with the rules for each product category. For example, for dairy products, a notification is sent three days before the expiration date, and for baby food, it's five days.
If the product meets the specified conditions, the customer receives a push notification in the app on the day of purchase. For example: "The yogurt you bought is best consumed by Saturday".
The user doesn't need to do anything extra. There's no need to photograph receipts, manually add products, or check the refrigerator themselves.
The company added that the new service should make shopping more convenient, help monitor food safety, and reduce food waste. According to Andrey Egorov, Director of Strategic Marketing at "Pyaterochka", modern retail is not just about purchases, but also about helping customers solve daily tasks.
The service is being launched in stages at "Pyaterochka". In the future, it is also planned to be implemented in "Perekrestok" and "Chizhik" stores.
