At the Rostov NPP, the calibration period for measuring instruments has been reduced from 60 to 5 working days. To achieve this, the station's specialists independently developed a barochamber device that creates the necessary conditions for accurate measurements.
The new installation allows calibration to be carried out directly at the enterprise, without sending high-precision instruments to third-party laboratories. Previously, such a procedure took about two months; now, specialists complete it within five working days.
The device was developed by metrologists of the Rostov NPP as part of the Rosatom production system. It creates the specified temperature, humidity, and pressure parameters required for accurate measurements.
When creating the installation, specialists used readily available materials. To obtain the necessary vacuum, they adapted a flask from a drinking water filtration system and pumped out the air. A special stand for the equipment was made by employees of the centralized repair shop.
The development has already been approved for use by the metrology department after obtaining the necessary accreditation.
Andrey Salnikov, Director of the Rostov NPP, noted that the project became an example of employee initiative, who were able to increase work efficiency without large investments. According to him, for such solutions, it is enough to know the production process well and independently look for ways to improve it.
