The Zaporizhzhia NPP briefly lost external power for the third time this week. Emergency diesel generators provided backup power to the plant, and the cause of the new outage has not yet been determined, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported.
According to the IAEA, this incident marks the 25th time the ZNPP has lost external power since the start of the conflict. This time, the outage was brief, after which external power was restored.
When external power is lost, the plant's diesel generators automatically switch to providing backup power to systems that require electricity. This allows essential safety functions to be maintained even in the temporary absence of power from the external grid.
The IAEA specifically noted that the cause of today's outage is still unknown. The agency continues to monitor the situation at the plant.
