An unmanned catamaran boat, Avatar 001, was presented in Volgograd. Its design ensures high buoyancy and makes the vessel virtually unsinkable. The new product is designed for autonomous operation, cargo transportation, and performing tasks without a crew.
The development was carried out by the Volgograd company "Aqua-Volga". According to the head of the enterprise, Dmitry Kozlov, the project was entirely created by local specialists: from design to final assembly. At the same time, the share of Russian materials and components reaches 90%.
Avatar 001 has a length of 4 meters, a width of 2.35 meters, and a height of 1.6 meters. Control is possible in two ways: an operator can steer the boat from a console up to 30 kilometers away, or the vessel can independently follow a pre-set route.
Depending on the configuration, the payload capacity ranges from 100 to 500 kilograms. The electric propulsion system allows it to reach speeds of up to 15 km/h, and the autonomous operating time reaches eight hours, depending on the load and operating mode.
The developers note that the unmanned boat is designed for monitoring river areas, patrolling, and delivering various cargoes. Its virtually unsinkable properties are ensured by the combination of the catamaran's design and the hull materials used.
