Engineers from Penza have proposed an unusual way to increase the range and accuracy of rocket projectiles without replacing the engine or increasing fuel reserves. The development by the Penza Artillery Engineering Institute (PAII) has been registered in the FIPS database.
Currently, the rotation of many unguided rocket projectiles is provided mechanically – by means of a pin that moves along a spiral groove in the guide. The authors of the invention believe that such a scheme creates unnecessary resistance and limits flight efficiency.
Instead, they proposed using a special sealing plate with inclined nozzles. During launch, reactive gases pass through them, spinning the projectile while it is still in the guide.
After exiting the launcher, the plate automatically detaches, and the engine begins to operate without additional obstacles.
According to the developers, this design allows for both maintaining the necessary rotation of the munition and avoiding losses of reactive thrust after launch.
