It has been proposed in Russia to create an industrial mining company with state participation. This initiative was put forward by Evgeny Masharov, a member of the Public Chamber.
In his opinion, a state-owned entity could mine cryptocurrency on par with already operating legal miners. This would allow for the simultaneous use of available energy capacities and control over the subsequent circulation of the obtained digital assets.
Masharov linked the proposal to the country's energy and economic security. As an additional argument, he cited criminal cases against the heads and founders of some mining companies.
It is assumed that the new structure could adopt foreign full-cycle practices – from cryptocurrency mining to its subsequent realization. For now, this is only a proposal from a representative of the Public Chamber, and not a ready-made state solution.
