Shipbuilders of the Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod) launched another Project RSD59 dry cargo ship. The vessel belongs to the "Volgo-Don max" class and is designed for mixed "river-sea" navigation, as reported by the shipbuilding enterprise's press service.
The serial construction of dry cargo ships of this class is carried out by the Nizhny Novgorod shipyard to update the domestic cargo civilian fleet.
What a Project RSD59 dry cargo ship can transport:
- general (packaged goods in individual packaging) and bulk cargo (loose material without packaging)
- packaged timber
- round timber
- scrap metal
- metal in coils
- coal
- dangerous goods
Characteristics of Project RSD59 dry cargo ship:
- Length — 141 m
- Width — 16.9 m
- Board height — 6 m
- Draft — 4.6 m
- Number of holds — 2
- Speed — 10.2 knots
After launching, the dry cargo ship will be completed afloat. Then it will be sent for sea trials and handed over to the customer.
In June 2023, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard and GTLC signed a contract for the construction of 34 Project RSD59 dry cargo ships. Funds from the National Wealth Fund (NWF) were attracted to finance the project. The entire series is expected to be delivered by February 2027.
