"Azimut" Modernized ILS 2700 Landing System at Domodedovo Airport

The complex is diagnosed remotely from the control room

Azimut Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) has modernized the ILS 2700 instrumental landing system at Domodedovo Airport. The complex will ensure the safety of one of Russia's busiest air hubs. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.

The system transmits precise data to the aircraft about the distance from the runway, deviation from the course and glideslope during approach.

ILS 2700 Characteristics:

  • emergency power supply from batteries — at least 2 hours
  • mean time between failures — 30 thousand hours
  • average service life of the radio beacon — 120 thousand hours or 15 years
  • outdoor operation at temperatures from -50 to +50°C

The ground equipment of ILS 2700 emits amplitude-modulated high-frequency signals. Receiving devices on board the aircraft determine its position relative to the runway.

Azimut's development incorporates automatic redundancy: in case of a malfunction, components replace failed parts. Equipment diagnostics are performed remotely from the control room.

ILS 2700 complies with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). It is operated not only in Russia but also in airports in Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Abkhazia.
