VTB clients can now pay for purchases and services in Brazil via the "VTB Online" application. Cash and a local bank card will not be needed – it is enough to scan the QR code on the receipt or terminal.
After confirming the payment, the money will be debited from the ruble account. The bank will automatically convert the amount into Brazilian reals, and no separate commission will be charged for the operation.
Up to 40 thousand rubles can be spent at one time using this method. Payment will require a smartphone with internet access and the bank's application installed.
Brazil has become the second Latin American country where VTB has launched such a service. Previously, QR code payments became available to the bank's clients in Argentina.
VTB expects that the function will be in demand among tourists and business travelers: they will not have to look for exchange offices in advance or carry large amounts of cash with them.
