The Russian company Atlant Armour, specializing in tactical equipment, presented a prototype of a domestic analogue of American tactical glasses Gatorz, which are widely used by military and law enforcement agencies. The development is at an early stage: so far, the creators have managed to combine a ballistic lens with an aluminum frame.
Ballistic glasses are an element of individual body armor that protects the eyes from fragments, bullets, shock waves, and blinding flashes. They are mandatory when shooting and working in conditions where there is a risk of eye injury. Such glasses are in demand in various units of the Russian Armed Forces: in assault units during urban combat, in reconnaissance and sniper units where eye protection in the field is important, in special forces and special operations units, as well as in motorized rifle and airborne troops.
While American Gatorz ballistic glasses lead the market, their main drawback is their high price: depending on the model, it ranges from 30,000 to 35,000 rubles from Russian sellers. The technical characteristics of the domestic product and the timing of its possible market release have not yet been disclosed. It is also unknown whether the analogue will be cheaper than American glasses.
