Su-34 transformed into a long-range carrier of super-powerful FABs with UMPK

Rostec: The aircraft can simultaneously use several guided aerial bombs, hitting targets at a significant distance

The Su-34 front-line bomber, combined with high-explosive aerial bombs equipped with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK), has become one of the most effective means of hitting remote targets. Rostec reported that the complex allows for high-precision strikes without entering the direct range of air defense systems.

The use of FABs with UMPK is an example of a qualitative symbiosis of a combat aircraft and ammunition. The combined inertial-satellite guidance system of the UMPK allows the crew, using pre-set coordinates, to drop bombs at a distance of several tens of kilometers from the target.

The corporation also noted that the Su-34 is capable of carrying several guided aerial bombs simultaneously, which allows combining high accuracy with great strike power in one combat sortie.

In addition to FAB-250, FAB-500, and FAB-1500, the heavy FAB-3000 is also used with the UMPK module. According to Rostec, after installing the planning module, this ammunition is designed to hit particularly strong objects, including protected command posts and capital fortifications. Smaller caliber aerial bombs are used to strike dispersed targets, concentrations of equipment, and field fortifications.
