The overwhelming majority of organizations in Russia need artificial intelligence (AI) specialists. However, they lack their own infrastructure for implementing new technologies, according to a study by OrionSoft.
The AI infrastructure readiness index of Russian companies for the first half of 2026 was 38 out of 100 points. This indicates an initial level of environment formation for neural network development.
Analysts emphasize that organizational and technological readiness "significantly lags behind the expected pace of AI implementation." However, the demand for these technologies from businesses is widespread.
The study surveyed 100 representatives of large companies. Of these, 79% reported a shortage of AI specialists, and 91% of respondents indicated a lack of servers with graphics processors for neural networks.
AI projects are being implemented in Russia, but not very actively, OrionSoft noted. Almost a third of companies (28%) are developing one or two such projects, 21% of organizations are developing more than two, and the rest are only planning.
Russian businesses expect to receive "measurable results" from AI in 2026. Such expectations are held by companies that have moved from experimenting with neural networks to practice, analysts concluded.
