The Russian electric car "Atom" was able to travel 597 km without recharging during a new test – almost 100 km more than its declared range. Engineers from the Kama company tested the car's capabilities in real conditions to find out how far it could go on a single charge with calm driving.
The test began early in the morning at the Atom Engineering Center in Moscow. The team's task was to drive to Tula and back without connecting the car to a charging station.
To reduce energy consumption, specialists disabled the driver assistance system and chose a smooth driving mode. The car was driven without sudden accelerations or braking, and the average speed was about 60 km/h.
The manufacturer claims a range of up to 500 km on a single charge for the "Atom". However, during the test, the electric car was able to cover a greater distance – 597 km, according to the press service of the Kama company.
The Russian electric car "Atom" is assembled at the Moskvich plant. Among the model's features are a display integrated into the steering wheel and a body without a central pillar.
The manufacturer handed over the first batch of cars to buyers on July 17.
