Nizhny Novgorod's "Fabrika Kompozitov" plans to start producing vessels with composite hulls on the territory of the Gorokhovetsky Shipyard in the Vladimir region. This was stated by the company's representative Andrey Mikityuk.
Now there is a need for composite vessels. We discussed this topic at a meeting with the governor.
According to him, specialists from "Fabrika Kompozitov" are currently conducting engineering and financial calculations to determine market needs and what the product itself will be. These could be polymer catamarans with a shallow draft and a capacity of up to 36 passengers, Mikityuk noted.
Such vessels can approach almost any shore, and expensive infrastructure is not needed for passenger boarding/disembarking. The Nizhny Novgorod residents are also considering the possibility of producing campboats (floating tourist houses), he concluded.
The Gorokhovetsky Shipyard was founded in 1902. Tugs and auxiliary fleet vessels were built here. In March 2026, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the transfer of federally owned shares of the enterprise to the government of the Vladimir region. Local authorities were obliged to build an industrial and technological park on the territory of the plant.
