The Russian Armed Forces have started using the modernized Nabat-3 drone detector. The device has an expanded operating frequency range, increased detection range and accuracy, according to the manufacturer, GoDrone.
The "Nabat-3" now detects targets within a two-kilometer radius, and its operating range is from 200 to 8800 MHz. This allows it to detect almost all types of UAVs used, the company emphasized. This coverage was chosen for a reason, as enemy drones are increasingly moving to high frequencies.
The detector does not "shine" into the sky like a radar, but listens. The "Nabat-3" catches radio emissions from onboard video transmitters of drones, analyzes signals in a wide band, and signals the presence of a drone.
The main innovation of the third version is the video interception function. It allows real-time reception of video signals from a drone or an unmanned boat. The operator literally sees what the enemy's camera sees: this helps to understand the direction of flight, the area of the device's presence, and, most importantly, where the threat comes from and what measures need to be taken.
In addition, the device can read OSD telemetry (altitude, speed, sometimes GPS coordinates). The company also specifically noted improved noise filtering.
